Using Magazines as a Presentation Design Layout

Updated: Feb 5, 2020

Over the duration of this workshop, we were given a task of picking out an 'EYE' magazine, Sara has supplied, at the front of the class; Once retrieved, were the instructed to take a few reference images, more specifically of the design and layout of the articles found within the magazine. Reference images shown below;

(Notes, titled 'Task 4', initially depicting and clear explaining as the task given and what we have to do)

(Reference image of my chosen magazine, Issue number 73, AUTUMN 2009)

After such, Sara gave us a clear explanation as to why; Utilising these magazines and the reference images you can use these to help you produce your presentation slides for your Summative Assessment in December - Rather than using the morbid, Microsoft Powerpoint - Using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, you will be able to produce, a series of slides much more creative and visually stimulating.

Some 'first attempt' Examples below;

I must admit, I do believe that these slides do appear much more visually appealing, and 'design' driven, a methodology I would have even thought about using before - but what a fantastic idea!
